The gap between the baseplate and the form was only 3.5" and was no obstacle for the cement truck. 15 minutes and 1.6 yards of concrete later - the form was full. and leveled off. A little cement got on the plate but a few whacks with a rubber hammer got it right off..

2 days later the form was off , I put the garden hose in the hole , turn it on wide open and filled the hole with the sand I took out of it. It nearly all went back in as the water keep air pockets out.

This Florida sand is really hard down deep. Over 5700 pounds of concrete and it settled only 3/4" lower.
